Application of chemical pumps in desulfurization and denitrification systems
2026-05-27 20:48:50 496As environmental emission standards continue to rise, chemical pumps are increasingly used in desulfurization and denitrification systems, becoming key equipment in flue gas treatment devices for thermal power, steel, cement, waste incineration, and chemical industries. Desulfurization systems are primarily used to remove sulfur dioxide (SO₂) from flue gas, while denitrification systems aim to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. Both systems impose high requirements on the corrosion resistance, stability, and continuous operation capability of pumps.
In desulfurization systems, lime slurry circulation pumps, absorption tower circulation pumps, and oxidation fan supporting pumps are used for long-term transport of slurries containing solid particles, chloride ions, and corrosive media. The operating conditions are complex, leading to wear and corrosion. Therefore, pump bodies are often made of high-chromium alloys, 2205 duplex stainless steel, or rubber-lined corrosion-resistant materials to extend equipment service life. For large desulfurization circulation pumps, it is also essential to optimize impeller structure and flow channel design to reduce wear and improve operational efficiency.
In denitrification systems, urea solution transfer pumps, ammonia water transfer pumps, and metering dosing pumps are core equipment. Since urea and ammonia water are corrosive and prone to crystallization, these systems typically use stainless steel centrifugal pumps, magnetic drive pumps, or metering pumps, equipped with insulation, heat tracing, and flushing designs to prevent crystallization blockage and mechanical seal failure. Among these, magnetic drive pumps are particularly widely used in SCR denitrification devices due to their leak-free shaft seals and low maintenance requirements.
Currently, as the environmental protection industry moves toward high efficiency, energy savings, and low maintenance, the reliability requirements for chemical pumps in desulfurization and denitrification systems continue to increase. In the future, corrosion-resistant materials, efficient hydraulic models, and monitoring technologies will see broader application in the environmental pump sector.
